How do you add emoticons?

Use the standard text emoticons, eg. colon-hyphen-right parenthesis. (You see them when composing a reply to the emoticon message above.)
We could add an emoticon selector to the comment form, if someone wants to take the time to do that. But it would just be a cute UI widget that just types colon, hyphen, parenthesis for you, so it's not critical.

I'm just a point-and-click kind of guy, and I don't know if I can handle typing "colon-hyphen-right parenthesis", if you know what I mean. For example: how do I get the Edward Munch-type schizophrenic "Scream" emoticon?

Seriously, though! This is a good idea. I hope you get lots of queries

It's worth pointing out that Xonly the most common emoticons are recognized and substituted with images. Unrecognized emoticons will remain in their basic text form. For example:
=o)
:-S
8-)
:-/
(^.^)
We're using the silk icons for our emoticons, which gives us a somewhat limited set to work with, so it will probably stay that way for now, until someone wants to crank out a bunch of replacement emoticons.

Do you have a legend or key to the available emoticons?
